Recruitment: Translators [no one for now]
« on: February 16, 2009, 10:48:21 PM »
Hi! :)

SC's looking for Japanese and Chinese translators! If you're fluent in any of these languages and want to help out or to speed up our releases, please consider applying by taking the test at the bottom PMing starfire, k4gh, or hemony! We don't bite ;)

Guide (taken from lill_sweetty's post, edited by ippy, with input from MiYoko):

Put your translations on word or notepad. Try to use a readable font if you're using word. Say if it's read from left to right or right to left. Make sure we can tell where the translation for one page ends and another starts, same goes for the panels and bubbles or boxes. You can use the names of the people who are saying them, if you know them or just label them bubble 1 and so on. Label the sound effects as SFX. {i.e. SFX: choke} Add any translation notes you have in a different color/size. When you send the finished translation you can send it by copy and paste into the PM or by uploading it to a site and giving the link. If you copy and paste it, the font will only be in one color unless you change it after pasting it.
Make sure to have this list, filled out to the best of your abilities, at the top of every translation.

If you would like to translate manga from a language other than the ones listed, please don't hesitate to ask Starfire.

About all things pm hemony or reply in this topic
IF you want to take the test you need to pm/reply here too to get the test and mention for what language.
At the moment we´re not looking for jp translators only for 1 more Chinese translator~

If you're new and don't exactly get how the forum works just yet, here are some guides ;)

I'd like to translate japanese to english... my old groups (i haven't been active in over a year) seem to have died, but can i skip the test? i have a few releases like the 'lovey dovey' series.

and how often is the expected turnaround for translation?

If it is okay, I would like to apply for the Chinese translator position.
I am a native Chinese with a decent standard of English. I'm also okay with any manga (that are not too adult for me, of course) , but I might need help with getting the Japanese names. (maybe Wikipedia helps?)
This is my first time attempting to translate manga, but I'm wiling to devote my free time into helping (which decreases my time of reading mangas  :bliz:) If you don't mind me being a newbie, please send me the test I need to take and tell me about the deadlines.
(P.S.: I also know Bahasa Melayu, but I don't think that will help much  :birddotdotdot:)

Hey, could I maybe try the Japanese test?  I'm hardly professional, having absolutely no experience in the whole scanlating process thing, but I'd both like to help and to get the practice. :emo:

Someone actually sent me a PM at a different forum and suggested I apply here too...so yeah, that was weird.   :thinkingalot:

じゃあ、ありがとうございました。   :bye:
